Create an ice hockey training plan: season, sessions, drills

Plan the season in three steps, build every session with phases and drills and send it to the team as a PDF. Players see the plan in their app before they arrive at the rink.

The season in your head, the drills on paper

Many coaches I know plan well. The plan just lives in three places: the season structure in their head, the sessions in a Word file, the drills on index cards or photos of the tactics board. The assistant coach has his own version. The players find out at the boards what happens next.

HOLULA APEX stacks the three levels: season, session, drill. What you create once is there for every coach in the club and lands in the players' app.

Season in three steps

The generator asks you three things. First: how many weeks, from when, for which age groups. Second: which phases the season has, for example foundation, build-up, competition, with deload weeks in between. Third: which weekdays you train on and which template applies on which day. The preview does the maths: three days times eight weeks is 24 sessions. One click and they are in the calendar, for off-ice and on-ice training.

If you prefer to build by hand, you create sessions one by one or import them: the monthly calendar as PDF, the league fixture list as Excel, a finished practice plan as PDF. The app recognises duplicates.

Build every session

A session consists of phases: minutes, phase, content, key points. Warm-up 15 minutes, interval protocol 30, jump complex 25, cool-down 20. From your drill library you pull drills into the phases, with diagram. For strength sessions the app calculates working weights from the players' test values, as a percentage of their maximum.

Your own drill library

Drills belong to the club, not to whichever coach happens to be there. In the library they sit with description, key points, duration, category and diagram, private or shared with all coaches, synced live. You draw the diagram in the editor straight onto the rink: players, pucks, goals, cones, skating, passing and shooting lines in hockey notation, three rink templates. On request the AI writes a text suggestion from the diagram, which you approve or discard.

Drills from a PDF, such as a drill sheet or a finished practice plan, are read in by the app. A play from the playbook becomes a drill with one tap, and the other way round.

Reaching the team

Every session goes to the players as a PDF, by e-mail at the push of a button, individually or in bulk. In the player app the session shows date, venue and phases, plus "I'm coming" or "Can't make it". You see who has opened the plan, and on training day with one tap who is there. Attendance is matched against test values: how do players who come regularly develop? The correlation view shows it.

Frequently asked questions

The library belongs to the club: you create your drills, import them from PDF or draw them in the editor. There is deliberately no database of a thousand foreign drills. Templates for whole off-ice and on-ice sessions are included and used by the generator.

Yes. Monthly calendars (PDF), league fixture lists (Excel), practice plans and drill sheets (PDF) are read in and checked in a preview before anything is created.

Yes. In the player app every session shows its phases and diagrams. The coach sees who has opened the plan. Parents see their child's schedule and RSVP.

All coaches of the club, at no extra cost. Sessions, drills and templates are club-wide; drills can also be kept private.

The app runs in the browser and as an iOS and Android app. Attendance and test values captured without a connection go into a queue and are sent as soon as the connection is back.
